The Batman: Part II has opened Gotham’s doors to a new wave of stars as production officially gets underway, after writer and director Matt Reeves confirmed the addition of Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan to the sequel.
Reeves revealed through social media posts that Stan will play Harvey Dent, the character who later becomes Two-Face, while Johansson’s role remains undisclosed. He also announced the casting of Brian Tyree Henry, Sebastian Koch and Charles Dance.
Robert Pattinson returns as Bruce Wayne and Batman, alongside Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright and Colin Farrell.
Details
- Production begins after a series of delays that impacted the project over the past two years, following confirmation last summer from Warner Bros. Discovery that the script had been completed.
- Reeves recently shared teaser images from the set showing the Batmobile driving through snowy streets, hinting at an even darker visual tone for the sequel.
- The first Batman film achieved major box office success thanks to its noir detective style and Pattinson’s brooding take on the character, raising anticipation for the sequel set to premiere on October 1, 2027.
