FIFA raised the top price for 2026 World Cup final tickets to $10,990 after reopening sales, which were hit by widespread technical issues following the finalization of participating teams.
The increase comes from $8,680 in December, with other categories also rising, reflecting FIFA’s adoption of dynamic pricing for the tournament set to be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Details
Other ticket categories saw sharp increases:
• Category 2 for the July 19 final rose to $7,380 from $5,575
• Category 3 increased to $5,785 from $4,185
By Wednesday evening, tickets were available for only 17 group-stage matches, with no knockout games listed for sale.
The rollout was marred by technical issues on the ticketing platform, where users faced long wait times and were redirected to unclear sales pages for different fan groups.
FIFA later said the links were functioning properly, adding that tickets for the remaining 104 matches would be released gradually rather than all at once.
Dynamic pricing has drawn political and fan criticism, with warnings it could make the tournament the most financially exclusive to date.
FIFA also continues to operate its official resale platform, charging up to a 15% fee from both buyers and sellers.
What’s Next?
Attention now turns to upcoming sales phases and whether more affordable ticket categories will be made available, amid expected fan and political reactions to rising prices.
