Sony released the first full trailer for “Jumanji: Open World,” set for a Dec. 11 theatrical release, Deadline reported, with Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan reprising their roles as the game’s four core avatars, who find themselves stuck in “demo mode” in the real world.
Details:
- Director and Team: Jake Kasdan returns to direct, with Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia and Matt Tolmach among the producers.
- New Faces: Rhys Darby, Nick Jonas and Brittany O’Grady join the cast, alongside returning actor Alex Wolff.
- Earlier Preview: A limited clip first screened in April at CinemaCon in Las Vegas ahead of this week’s full trailer.
- Franchise Record: “Welcome to the Jungle” and “The Next Level” earned more than $962 million and $801 million worldwide, respectively.
- The Origin: The franchise is based on Chris Van Allsburg’s children’s book, with a 1995 film adaptation led by Robin Williams.
What to Watch:
The film opens worldwide on Dec. 11 — the first test of the franchise’s box office pull since its second installment in 2019.
