Sony Pictures has released the trailer for Jumanji: Open World, the fifth and final entry in the franchise, with Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan back in their roles — this time as game characters loose in the real world.
Details:
- The setup: The trailer opens with Alex Wolff’s Spencer Gilpin at a restaurant with family when a rhinoceros bursts in; he then finds the game characters stranded in “demo mode.”
- The returns: Johnson plays Dr. Xander Bravestone, Black is Professor Sheldon Oberon, Hart is Franklin Finbar and Gillan is Ruby Roundhouse.
- Supporting cast: Danny DeVito, Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Lamorne Morris and Rhys Darby also appear.
- Franchise arc: The series began with a 1981 children’s book, became a 1995 film with Robin Williams, and was revived in 2017 around a video-game premise rather than a board game.
What to Watch:
Jumanji: Open World opens on Christmas Day 2026, closing out the Johnson-Black-Hart run in the franchise.
