Bratz, owned by MGA Entertainment, is releasing a collectible doll in the likeness of South African singer Tyla, modelled on the sand-made Balmain gown she wore to her 2024 Met Gala debut — two years after she posted that she would one day have a doll of her own.
Details:
- The wish: Tyla wrote on X on Jan. 10, 2024 that she would have her own doll someday, later calling the call she received “a moment I’ll never forget.”
- The design: Bratz president and creative director Jasmin Larian Hekmat said the team wanted an instantly recognisable look; the braided hairstyle was made with real braids rooted into the doll’s head.
- The accessories: The doll comes with a concert-inspired second outfit, a miniature vinyl of the TYLA album and a tiger, a nod to the singer’s fanbase.
- Price and release: It goes on sale July 27 via bratz.com for $75, following a fan meet-and-greet at FAO Schwarz in New York.
